Overview
Weatherman Phil Connors is forced to relive the title holiday over and over again ad nauseam. Initially, Phil is obnoxious and acerbic, and he has nothing but disdain for the town of Punxsutawney and its peculiar traditions involving a chubby rodent. After spending thousands of thousands of Groundhog Days there, however, his mind begins to change. Only Phil is aware of what is happening; for everyone else, this is just an ordinary day. He is able to manipulate events with his foreknowledge, particularly in an effort to win over optimistic producer Rita, but it is a painstaking process, and some events simply cannot be changed. Ultimately, he learns to embrace others and reject selfishness.
