Gifted teen athlete, Dean Youngblood, dreams of playing in the NHL. He finally gets the chance of a lifetime to try out for the Canadian Hamilton Mustangs. While he has talent, his lack of toughness becomes a sticking point. Carl Racki, exploits Dean's weakness to show off his own skills. Dean ends up making the team and goes through their hazing ritual. Team captain, Derek Sutton, becomes the teen's friend and mentor. When Derek is injured by a resentful, Racki, Dean quits in disgust. Dean's older brother, Kelly, is the only one that can restore Dean's will to play. It is time for him to grow up and face his fears. Dean rejoins the team and plays the game of his life in the playoffs. |
