Overview
A man named Joe looks back on his childhood with warmth and nostalgia. He grew up in Rockaway Beach in the 1930s where he and all the members of his extended Jewish family were fans of the radio programs of the day. Joe remembers how radio inspired his daydreams and fantasies. Radio also inspires and changes the lives of other members of Joe’s family, especially his wistful Aunt Bea, who longs for the kind of romance she hears celebrated in love songs and radio stories. Radio also affects the fortunes of those directly involved in the radio industry, including a not so bright aspiring actress named Sally who needs to get rid of her low class accent in order to succeed in the medium.
