The movie is based on the true story of Buford Pusser who was a sheriff in Tennessee who tried to rid his town of corruption and crime. He places his family in danger and loses his wife. During his fights with the local criminals he almost lost his own life. Sheriff Pusser was a former wrestler who traveled back to his hometown in Tennessee for peace and quiet. When he discovers all the corruption in the town, he decides to run for sheriff against the current sheriff who is part of the corruption. After he wins the election, he puts all his efforts into fighting the local criminals. The criminals have a huge fight on their hands when they try to take on the super tough Sheriff Pusser. |
