Exceedingly eccentric Mr. Bean works at an art gallery, though he doesn't do a lot of working. He spends most of his time sleeping on the job, which causes his superiors to want him fired, but the chairman of the board is in his corner, so they decide to get rid of him in another way - by sending him on special assignment to transport a painting to a museum in America. Many mishaps ensue as Mr. Bean stays with a family and shakes up the family dynamics. The folly of leaving a narcoleptic klutz in charge of a priceless painting of Whistler's mother is soon revealed, but it turns out that Mr. Bean has a bit of cleverness in him despite his abundant foolishness.
