Overview
Determined to convert the local indigenous population to Roman Catholicism, devout Jesuit priest Father Gabriel arrives in the jungles of South America. The local Indians are notoriously hostile to outsiders, but Father Gabriel's musical talents win them over and they permit him to live among them. Meanwhile, slaver Rodrigo Mendoza commits a dastardly murder and as penance abandons his life of luxury to live at Father Gabriel's mission with the locals. The mission becomes a place of safety and harmony, but political wheels are turning that will endanger its very existence.
