| Overview A gypsy mother leaves her deformed child at the footsteps of the Parisian cathedral of Notre Dame. While Judge Frollo initially considers slaying the "abomination," the archdeacon remarks on what a sin that would be, which Frollo responds to by deciding to raise the child as his son in atonement. Two decades later, "Quasimodo" is a sweet but naive man who longs for live beyond his bell tower. Hearing his plight, Quasiomodo's three gargoyle friends tell him to enjoy himself today; it's the Festival of Fools, where people would just think he had a great costume. Things go well until Frollo's men cause a riot. It's only through the intervention of Esmeralda, a gypsy, that Quasimodo escapes and returns home. |
