A mermaid rescues a boy named Allen off Cape Cod. Years later, he returns to the scene of his rescue, only to fall in again and be rescued once more. The mermaid decides that this time, she will follow him home, and she does so, waiting for her tail to dry out so that it will be transformed into a pair of legs. After she finds him, he agrees to house her, and he soon falls in love with the mysterious woman. Allen's memories of his rescues are fuzzy, and she plans to keep her mermaid status a secret. However, that means that she will never be able to get her legs wet in his presence, a difficult task. |
