Unpopular Muriel Heslop escapes from her unhappy home life by obsessing about her favorite band ABBA and planning her dream wedding. Depressed that her friends have abandoned her, she steals money from her parents and spends it all on a lavish vacation. While on holiday, she meets her high school friend Rhonda and they bond through a mutual love of ABBA. To avoid fallout from her theft, Muriel runs away to Sydney to live with Rhonda and live out her fantasy as a future bride, haunting the city's bridal shops. However, real life intrudes when a tragic revelation puts her new life in jeopardy and she discovers that wedded bliss is not the key to happiness. |
