Overview
The evil realm of the Outworld holds a martial arts tournament once every 20 years for the right to cross over to and control the Earth. Raiden, the god of lightning, serves as Earth's representative in the tournament and chooses warriors to fight for it. Raiden invites Shaolin monk Liu Kang, military officer Sonya Blade and kung fu movie star Johnny Cage to fight the forces of darkness on behalf of humanity. They must defeat Outworld overlord Shang Tsung and his champion Prince Goro in the tournament to save the Earth from invasion and enslavement.
