Overview
Billy Hayes is a young American who visited Turkey in 1970. Before he left, he made a grave decision; to attempt to smuggle 2 kilograms of hashish out of the country on a commercial airline flight. He tapes the drugs to his body, unbeknownst to his girlfriend, and tries to board their flight. He is easily captured and before long winds up in a seedy Turkish Prison. Based on a true story, we follow Billy through his four year prison sentence as he struggles to contend with life inside a harsh and often sadistic penal system. As Billy's family works tirelessly through legal and diplomatic channels to speed his release, Billy must decide to what lengths his is willing to go to survive.
