Prot is a patient in a mental institution, and Dr. Mark Powell is his psychiatrist. While the kind doctor is determined to help Prot work through what he perceives to be his extensive delusions, Prot calmly insists that he is actually an alien from a far-off planet known as K-PAX. This planet houses an advanced civilization, and they know far more about the way the universe works that humankind can imagine. Although he is initially dismissive and skeptical, Dr. Powell begins to wonder whether Prot might just be telling the truth after all. He finds many of Prot's statements challenging and invigorating, and he begins to open himself up to possibilities he never imagined before. Is Prot really extra-terrestrial, or is the doctor losing it? |
