Overview
In 1968, about 10 years before abortion was made legal by the Supreme Court, a group of Chicago women form a network that helps desperate women obtain a safe, illegal abortion. The activists call themselves the Jane Collective. The leader of the group is an ardent feminist who goes by the name of Virginia. Then a housewife named Joy finds herself pregnant. She has a heart condition. Giving birth may kill her. Joy considers self-aborting her pregnancy in a dangerous way but then she hears about the Jane Collective. Now the race is on to find her a safe abortion.
