Do the murdered dead really need a marker to rest in peace, or do they simply need revenge? In the frontier town of Lago, Marshall Jim Duncan discovered that the town's mine was on government-owned property. Corrupt members of the town hired three gunfighters to brutally murder him and dump his body into an unmarked grave. They then double-crossed the men. On the same day the gunfighters are released from prison, a mysterious stranger rides into town out of the plains on a pale horse. The townspeople soon learn that he's tougher than how he looks. Desperate for protection, they hire him in return for whatever he wants.
Yet, the stranger has his own plans. He has no intention to "protect" all of Lago's residents.
