Overview
Inspired by a true story, Nate Gibson is a young man who becomes paralyzed after a bacterial infection turns into a severe case of meningitis. Nate moves from North Carolina to Tennessee in an effort to undergo intensive care and rehabilitation, but his prognosis does not improve, and his suffering causes him to consider suicide. Enter Gigi, a capuchin monkey trained as a service animal, which helps Nate regain some mobility and plenty of emotional fortitude; however, the feel-good story is threatened by the misguided actions of an animal rights group that objects to Gigi's status as a service animal.
