The series follows a family with a complicated history as they attempt to regain their spotlight. The series begins its story in 1877, three years after they lost everything in trying to corner the market on opium and making it public. They lost all their money, property, and holdings. The family patriarch has spent the past three years living in exile in France and is just now returning to New York. |
