Bandits attack a family on a Marsremote colony. Jerry, one of the robbers, murders the father andsurvives. He tries to fit in with the family, requiring thirty days to prove himself to Ilsa, the surviving mother, and Remmy, the daughter. During the thirty days, Ilsa appears to accepthim over time. But after thirty days, she attempts to shoot him but fails because Jerry has emptied the gun magazine. In the following struggle, Jerry kills her. Remmybecomes glum and tries to seclude herself withher pet robot, Steve. She also learns that their farm is surrounded by agigantic forcefieldthat sustains their breathing air. This discovery implies that the bandits infiltrated from an exterior location.
After years of being silent and standoffish around Jerry, Remmy matures into a young woman. Jerry tries to convince her to have children, but she refuses. When she tries to leave, Jerry ties her up. When he tries to rape her, Steve stops Jerry by blasting him with its power drill. In the meantime, Remy escapes and murders Jerry. Realizing she is now the only person in the outpost, she leaves Steve to protect the colony and ventures outside. |
