Overview
Courtney Whitmore's life is upended when her mother, Barbara, remarries and they move in with her step-father Pat Dugan. She has to acclimate to a new school as a sophomore and learn how to accept Pat. After finding a seemingly magical staff in the basement, she learns from her step-father that he used to be involved with the Justice Society of America. He was the sidekick of the hero Starman who died saving the world. Pat's superhero name was S.T.R.I.P.E., and he used to pilot a 15-foot robot. Pat explains to Courtney that Starman gave him the staff just before he passed away with the hope that it would eventually be found by its next wielder and used to protect the world.
