Overview
Siren gives the traditional mermaid tale a modern twist, setting marine volunteers and biologists up with the challenge of helping these mythical creatures survive. Siren begins with a fishing trip interrupted by a violent encounter that ends with the government seizing the main characters' friend and the creature that injured him. It then follows the main character and his girlfriend, both of whom study marine life in their harbor, as they interact with a siren who has come ashore to look for the other who was taken to a facility. Siren versus human culture, interaction, and struggles surface as the series progresses.
