Overview
SPECTRE formulates a plot to steal a Lektor cryptograph, used to translate code, from the Soviets. They engage Tatiana Romanova, a code translator at the Soviet Union Consulate in Istanbul, leaving her with the impression she is acting on behalf of the Soviet Union rather than a rouge spy group. Romanova contacts MI6 and offers to defect, but only to Agent 007, James Bond. Bond flies to Turkey to meet Romanova. While engaging in several melees, the two obtain the Lektor and escape on the Orient Express. The SPECTRE plot is revealed and the pair are able to defeat SPECTRE agents on the train and escape again. The two ride off in a gondola having foiled SPECTRE’s plan.
