Overview
Set in the 24th century, Altered Carbon centers around the concept that a person's mind can be stored in a digital drive installed at the base of the skull, known as a "stack." If the body dies, the stack can be installed into a new body or "sleeve." With enough money, a person can live forever, their stack installed in sleeve after sleeve. Takeshi Kovacs, a rebel fighter killed 250 years earlier, awakes to find his stack has been installed in a new body. He is tasked with solving the murder of Laurens Bancroft, an extremely wealthy aristocrat.
