Overview
This six episode BBC mini-series provides a new interpretation of Tolstoy's classic novel, War and Peace. The story centers around the Napoleonic invasion of Russia and the impact it has on five families. The story takes place in St. Petersburg in the early 1800's. These five noble families move in a world of high society that soon will change forever. The five families, each marked with their own unique flaws, are caught up in the revolutionary changes the war brings. Driven by their ambition and emotion, the children of these noble families struggle to find their place in the world and meaning in their life as everything they thought they knew is ripped apart, Pierre, Natasha, and Andrei all try to find love as they deal with tradition and family pressure. All of this is played out as Napoleon drives his forces closer to Moscow.
