Dave and Barbara Whiteman have it all, from the huge Beverly Hills mansion to a loyal dog companion, Matisse. Married for over 20 years, husband and wife are not happy with each other and have extracurricular activities to prove it. With Dave having an affair with the housemaid and Barbara trying every New Age remedy available for her melancholy, the entire household is mentally unstable. Jerry Baskin, a homeless man, finds himself poised on the Whiteman's poolside and tries to drown himself. Pulling him out of the water, the Whitemans find themselves host to Jerry, and end up learning a lot at the same time. As Dave and Barbara face themselves and each other, Jerry becomes the glue that holds the family together. Being financially rich is not the same as being mentally rich and happy.
