Overview
Edward Fudge is a young preacher in Alabama in the 1970s. Raised by a conservative and well respected church leader, Fudge has definitive ideas about the concepts of hell and heaven and salvation. When a man approaches him with the challenge to prove that Hell actually exists though, he agrees to place his own personal ideas about religion aside and put in the research for a year. As he spends that year immersing himself in his quest though, the rest of his life begins to fall apart around him.
