Sue Ellen Crandell, newly graduated from high school is disappointed that she can't afford go to Europe with her friends. The summer looks brighter, however, when her mother decides to join her boyfriend on a trip to Australia. Sue Ellen assumes she will be in charge of her siblings. To her dismay, her mother hires a babysitter who turns out to be a tyrant rather than the sweet lady she appeared to be. Sue Ellen finds the old woman dead. The kids all agree to stuff her in the trunk of the car and drop her off at a local funeral home. They return home to find the old lady had stolen all their summer money. This forces Sue Ellen to have to get a job to pay the family's bills. She tries to work at a fast food restaurant, but can't get along with the manager. She fakes a resume as a young fashion designer and lands a job as an administrative assistance. Holding a fashion show for her company at home, her cover is blown when Mom returns home early. |
