Beat generation icon and internationally renowned author Jack Kerouac wrote the novel "Big Sur" on his visits to the coastal California town. This adaptation of Kerouac's book centers on his personal struggles with new found fame and his ongoing battle with alcoholism. His inability to meet the emotional demands of romantic relationships, coupled with a growing distaste for urban life, keeps him returning to the lonely cabin. Kerouac's cycle of depression culminates in a nervous breakdown.
