Overview
A biographical look at the life of Nelson Mandela, closely following his autobiography of the same name. From his humble beginning in the village of Mvezo in Umtata, South Africa to his law education at the University of Witwatersrand and eventual involvement in the Apartheid movement, the portrayal of his life remains true to both historical events and his deeply held ideals. Mandela's actions to end the injustices of the Apartheid movement lead to a charge of inciting rebellion against the government of South Africa. After a moving defense of human freedom during his court trial, Mandela is incarcerated for a term that will stretch into decades and lead to his worldwide fame as a champion of human rights.
