A mother and daughter, both vampires, seek a place to live in an unused hotel called Byzantium inhabited only by a lonely man named Noel. The daughter, Eleanor, falls in love with a boy near her age called Frank and learns that he is dying of leukemia. The mother, Clara, decides Frank must die because he has learned their secret, but before she can kill him, the two women are attacked by the Brethren, an ancient society of vampires that has been hunting them because only men are allowed to be vampires. However, one of those hunting the women is a man who has loved Clara for centuries, and he is unwilling to carry out the orders of the Brethren if it means her death. |
