Overview
Upon the death of their father, the Foxman siblings - Judd, Wendy, Phillip and Paul - reluctantly gather to fulfill his final wish. Although the family has never been observant of their Jewish traditions, his final wish was that they sit Shiva for him. The week together brings out the best and worst in each person as they confront old childhood rivalries and deal with the problems that adulthood has brought them. They must also deal with their mother, who is already looking for a new partner and believes herself to be an expert on child-rearing, despite each of her children's obvious issues. Making things even worse is the presence of Tracy, Phillips' girlfriend and a therapist who is determined to force the family to deal directly with their problems and somehow become the family their father wished they could be.
