New York cab driver Jerry Fletcher spends his days inventing complex conspiracy theories involving everything from alien invasions to political assassinations. U.S. attorney Alice Sutton tolerates Jerry's frequent visits and rants due to his long friendship with her father, who's murder she is trying to solve. Like everyone else, she assumes Jerry is eccentric but harmless, until one day she finds herself on the run and fighting to keep both Jerry and herself alive as one of his theories seems to becoming reality. As Alice and Jerry begin to uncover pieces of Jerry's past, they realize that he has unwittingly been part of a secret governmental experiment, one which led to her father's death. Crushed by this news, Alice abandons Jerry but returns in one final attempt to save him, although he turns the tables to prevent the death of another friend. |
