Overview
Police lieutenant Speer and private eye Mike Murphy used to work together and be close friends, but a bitter enmity arose between them. They are going to have to set that aside, though, because Mike accidentally fans the flames of a gang war after his partner is murdered, and only with Speer's help can he keep Kansas City of the 1930s from erupting into violence. The two of them have not been partners for quite a while, but the rapport that they enjoyed during their years as friends begins to come back to them. Nonetheless, there is a lot of bad history between them, and they need to keep that from distracting them as they track down some incredibly dangerous criminals who want them dead.
