A group of suburban teenage friends in the late 1970s experience the cultural rites of passage as they transition from high school to young adulthood. Their activities and relationships are portrayed within the context of the time period. Political disillusionment is a topic of discussion in the aftermath of Watergate. The changing societal role of women is reflected in individual attitudes and expectations. The group congregates often for fun gatherings in the household basement of one the members, and two neighbors work to maintain an ongoing romantic relationship. The basic video game Pong provides entertainment, and an early version of the lava lamp produces visual effect. Classic rock music of the decade completes the portrayal as the group members assume the responsibilities of their generation.
