Overview
Benjamin Leighton Matlock is a defense attorney who studied law at Harvard. He has a practice in Atlanta. He is a widower with a grown daughter who also became a lawyer. They'd often work cases together until she moved to Philadelphia to start her own law firm. Matlock takes on cases where the clients are most often innocent. He believes in all his clients and has an investigator who helps him prove his client's innocence. Often, Matlock will visit crime scenes to find evidence that was missed. His investigator, Tyler Hudson, goes undercover to gather information that Matlock cannot get himself. At the end of most cases, Matlock puts the guilty party on the stand and dazzles them with his knowledge of the details of the crime earning an acquittal for his innocent clients.
