Ronald Miller is a hopeless nerd in school with his head on straight and goals mapped out. But Ronald wants more out of life and desires to be popular. Saving money all summer mowing lawns for a telescope, Ronald sees an opportunity in front of him. Cindy Mancini is an extremely popular cheerleader that finds herself in a mess and needing to replace a very expensive outfit belonging to her mother. He proposes to "rent" her as his girlfriend to boost him into the ranks of the popular. Certainly, Ronald finds himself with as much popularity as he can handle and Cindy reevaluates everything she has valued along the way.
