Overview
New York Mayor Randall Winston oversees the running of his busy city with the help of a talented but eclectically-flawed staff. His right hand man is Deputy Mayor Mike Flaherty, whose pure talent lies in taking something controversial that the oblivious Winston says and spinning it into something brilliant, or at least palatable to the masses. Things get difficult when Mike also has to manage the rest of the staff. Press Secretary Paul Lassiter is a cowardly loudmouth. Chief of Staff Stuart Bondek struggles to focus on his work anytime a woman in heels struts by. Head of Minority Affairs Carter Heywood makes life even more interesting for City Hall by being a gay black man. Together they comically weather the various storms of city politics.
