Overview
My Own Private Idaho is the story of two young male street hustlers, one gay and one who claims to be straight, who live on the streets of Portland. Mike and Scott, who are best friends, work as prostitutes to support themselves and their drug habits. Mike, who was abandoned as a child, is in love with Scott, who insists his wild lifestyle, which includes male prostitution, is just a temporary rebellion against his wealthy parents. Eventually, the pair go on a search for Mike's mother, which takes them from Portland to Idaho and eventually to Italy.
