Fred P. Chaney has just lost his mother and has received the strangest inheritance. His mother leaves him a horse, but it is not just any horse. This horse can talk, and he loves to do so. Don, the talking horse, also has one other talent. He is a genius at picking stocks. So Chaney uses the horse to make himself rich playing the stock market. Chaney soon realizes that having a talking horse can have its disadvantages as well.
