Porter and Ellie Stoddard are a prosperous, liberal New York couple, who have been married for 25 years. They are good friends with Griffin and Mona Morris, but Mona has just caught Griffin having an affair with who she thinks is a red-headed woman. Meanwhile, Porter has been having a fling with Alex, a young and beautiful cellist. Mona gets depressed and runs away to her family’s home in Mississippi; Porter accompanies her to keep her from being lonely but winds up having a brief sexual encounter with her. Back home, things are getting very confused, so Porter and Griffin decide to get away and fly to Sun Valley. However, Porter can’t contain himself and gets involved with two more women: Eugenie Claybourne, a spoiled heiress, and Auburn, a free-spirited employee at the local hardware store. |
