Overview
The Petrox Oil Company has found an island where they believe there are untapped oil reserves. A stowaway primatologist named Prescott goes along on their expedition. Enroute, the ship picks up a beautiful actress named Dwan who has been left at sea following an accident. At the island, the crew finds no usable oil, but they do find a giant ape named Kong. Kong becomes completely enamored of Dwan. Wilson, the lead oil executive, decides to capture Kong and take him back to New York as a publicity stunt. Once in Manhattan, Kong gets loose and chases after Dwan and Prescott. Eventually he grabs Dwan and flees to the top of the World Trade Center towers to fight an epic battle with helicopters.
