Jack Mason is a Seattle transient left heartbroken when his best human and canine friend both die in one day. On the brink of suicide, he's stopped by a soup kitchen worker named Walter Cole who refers him to Thomas Burns. The successful businessman offers Mason a job as a hunting guide. Enticed by the thought of escaping homelessness, Mason accepts; however, his misgivings are justified when he wakes in the woods with the man who earlier saved him pointing a gun to his face. He finds out from Cole that their hunting party chose him as a mark that nobody would miss to play a murderous game. Mason refuses to accept the fate these sadists chose for him, and the prey becomes the predator.
