Overview
Arthur Agee and William Gates live in some of the poorest neighborhoods in Chicago, and both nurture dreams of playing in the NBA. After being spotted on the playground, both accept scholarships to attend the prestigious St. Joseph's High School, 90 minutes away from their homes. They must endure the strain of making the arduous daily commute, assimilating into a new environment and bearing the financial burden of part of their tuition. The struggle proves too much for Arthur, who is forced to drop out when his parents lose their jobs. He reenrolls at a public school closer to his house. William perseveres at the school and eventually earns a scholarship to Marquette University where he continues his pursuit of his dream of playing professional basketball.
