Trailer | Overview As British rule grows more oppressive in Ireland, Michael Collins rises to the leadership of the Irish Republican Army. A rabble-rouser with a talent for fiery oratory and the planning of guerrilla combat, Collins skillfully evades the deadly Black-and-Tans paramilitaries that are capturing and killing IRA men and their sympathizers throughout the Emerald Isle. Through the Easter Uprising of 1916, Collins rallies Irish men and women to the cause of independence, and in 1921 Collins and his colleagues succeed in creating an Irish Free State. But the war for independence has creating resentment and rivalries within the IRA that lead to a deadly betrayal, and Collins will meet a bloody fate in the company of his few remaining loyalists on an Irish back road. |
