Overview
A taciturn farmer named Hoggett who is married to a loquacious woman as plump as he is skinny wins a piglet at a fair. After he takes Babe to his farm, the sweet-natured pig becomes attached to the sheepdogs that live there. Some time later, he discovers that he has a talent for sheep herding, which he does simply by asking the sheep politely to cooperate with him, a distinct difference from the rough behavior of the dogs. Farmer Hoggett gradually grows fond of the pig. When he notices his special talent, he decides to enter him in the sheepdog trials. Unfortunately, Babe learns the truth about what happened to his family just before the competition, and the farmer must revive his spirits.
