Overview
In the near future, humans have given up on living their lives. Instead, they use realistic robots known as surrogates to do everything for them from grocery shopping to clubbing. Surrogates appeal to most people because they can be whoever the controllers want them to be. FBI agent Greer is one of the few humans who do not support the use of surrogates. When one of the first murders in years is committed, Greer is forced to confront the surrogate problem once and for all.
