Philo Beddoe, a West Coast bareknuckle boxer competing in underground matches, decides retirement is in order when he realizes he enjoys what he's doing a little too much. Unfortunately, his retirement is cut short when some East Coast promoters decide a match between him and a fearsome brawler named Jack Wilson. Jimmy Beekman is the leader of the East Coast handlers and, together with the mob, kidnaps Beddoe's love interest in order to get him to accept the fight. Luckily, Wilson has a sense of honor and helps Beddoe rescue his girlfriend. The two fighters grow in their admiration for one another and begin to wonder who would have actually won the now cancelled fight. The fight winds up taking place, with Beddoe winning even though Wilson breaks his arm. |
