Overview
Vada, a girl who endured the loss of her mother at a very young age and the loss of her best friend more recently, has been given an assignment to write about someone she admires but has never met. As this assignment comes at the beginning of a vacation from school, she decides to visit her uncle in hopes that he will be able to help her uncover the truth about the mother she barely knew. Once she gets to her uncle's, she begins spending time with Nick, her uncle's potential step-son. Nick helps her ask around town and do research about people's memories of her mother. Though he is reluctant at first, he soon becomes engaged in the search and very interested in Vada.
