Overview
In New Mexico in 1983, twelve-year-old social outcast Owen finds friendship and love where he least expects it. Owen lives with his mother in an apartment complex while his parents go through a divorce. Most of his day is spent at school, bullied by classmates, and at home alone while his mother works. Then, he makes friends with twelve-year-old Abby -- a new girl who moved into the complex with her father. Abby acts strangely and only comes out to play at night, but Owen likes spending time with her. When a police investigation into a serial killer leads to Abby's father death, Abby kills an officer in front of Owen and he realizes that she is a vampire. Can their friendship survive Abby's nature?
