Overview
Determined to have a better life, shy Italian fisherman Mario Ruoppolo obtains a job as a postman. He is delighted when famous poet Pablo Neruda comes to live on Capri and soon strikes up a friendship with the charismatic Chilean. Mario becomes enamored with local beauty Beatrice, but finds himself tongue-tied in her presence. Despite the opposition of her intimidating aunt, he decides to woo the alluring Beatrice. With the help of Neruda, he pours out his feelings to Beatrice in poetry.
