Andie MacDowell (Julia Roth) turns up in a public hospital to seek treatment for colon cancer. Her family members are unaware of the diagnosis, and she decides to keep it a secret. However, Tamsin Greig, her manager, wants to make things public about the disease. While at the hospital, Andie meets three great women- a retired school teacher, a young mother, and an aging rocker. Together, the three women decide to face adversity humorously, and they couch Andie MacDowell. They explain the basics of chemo and invite Andie to join their group role-plays. The aim was to let her forget the pain. |
