When Jimmy Hoffa begins working for the Teamsters, he uses violence against those who won’t cooperate. Eventually he joins forces with the Italian mob. Once Hoffa becomes president of the Teamsters, he loans their money to the mob, which puts him under suspicion and lands him in a congressional hearing. He and Robert Kennedy are at odds, which gets Hoffa in worse trouble after Kennedy becomes Attorney General. Eventually Hoffa is betrayed by a colleague and ends up in prison. He’s released when the Teamsters agree to put political support behind Nixon, only to discover that part of the deal was a promise that he would not lead the Teamsters for another decade. He tries to force his hand with disastrous consequences.
